Mikrobiologija v družbenih omrežjih.

Ta povezava na Webicino bo najbrž všeč vsem ljubiteljem družbenih omrežij med mikrobiologi. Zbrane so povezave do novic, blogov, podkastov, mrež, tviterjev, wikijev, video strani, mobilnih aplikacij, iskalnih orodij, prezentacij in drugih virov, ki so povezane z mikrobiologijo. Dobrodošli bodo zlasti komentarji z dodatnimi koristnimi povezavami!

Epidemiološko kartiranje

Skupina Spatial Ecology and Epidemiology Group na Department of Zoology Univerze v Oxfordu (Vel. Britanija) se ukvarja s projekti kartiranja nekaterih infektivnih bolezni in njihovih vektorjev. Podatke objavljajo odprtodostopno preko spletnega portala GitHub. Pri tem zajemajo podatke iz različnih bibliografskih virov (npr. PubMed), vključujejo podatke iz sodelav ali pa iz sorodnih internetnih virov zdravstvenega nadzora kot je npr. HealthMap oz. kot je primer nadzora lokacije bolezenskega vektorja v Malaria Atlas Project.

Knjiga, ki navdušuje

Konec leta je tudi priložnost, ko se marsikje poklonijo popularnim in uglednim sodržavljanom. Nemci to počno npr. s prireditvijo Menschen 2014 – Ljudje 2014 (ki pravkar teče na programu ZDF). Med letošnje Nemke/Nemce 2014  se je uvrstila tudi mladenka Giulia Enders. Mesto si je zaslužila  kot avtorica letos najbolje prodajane knjige na nemškem trgu. Prodanih je bilo 800.000 izvodov knjige z naslovom Darm mit Charme – Črevo s šarmom. Giulia je nadebudna študentka medicine, ki jo je med medicinskimi temami prevzelo dogajanje v naših prebavilih. Z delom je pravzprav postavila prijazen spomenik sožitju človeka z njegovo mikrobno združbo v prebavnem traktu. Delo odlikujeta zelo popularna pripoved, ki jo učinkovito dopolnjujejo simpatične risane ilustracije. Kot nalašč (in seveda ne gre za slučaj) je trenutno preučevanje človekove mikrobne združbe, t.i. projekt mikrobiom (Human Microbiome Project) med najbolj vročimi raziskovalnimi temami v naravoslovju.
